Developmental Notes: Feathers Week 4
Bonding with Baby: The human face is of great interest to babies, especially to infants. The eyes, eyebrows, and mouth fascinate them and keep their attention. Being in position to focus on the adult’s face helps baby feel calm and secure.
Lullaby Tradition: Lullabies traditionally have been handed down from generation to generation for the purpose of providing soothing moments between adult and baby while surrounding baby with musical sounds indigenous to his culture.
Manipulation of Objects: Children learn through play. Through manipulation of objects, they learn about the world around them. Each child will have his own “action schemes” or ways of manipulating objects. Observe for some of the following schemes: mouthing, shaking, throwing, dropping, hitting, slapping, reaching.
